Boxing: Saunders’ son strikes Monroe

The cradle before the fight between Billy Joe Saunders and Willie Monroe Jr has become a spectacle: Saunders’ son beat and entered the competition.

While the opponents were on the scales before the WBO middleweight fight on Saturday evening (23.50 hrs live on DAZN), Saunders’ son Stevie escalated.Monroe stroked the seven-year-old over his head, who then hit the boxer’s abdomen and then closed with his right foot.

Promoter Frank Warren pulled the boy back on his shoulders.

Saunders then defended his son’s plot via Twitter:”I taught my son when a stranger touches him to beat him in self-defense and run away.”

Saunders hasn’t defended his WBO middleweight title since December and is hoping to force a fight against Gennady Golovkin or Saul Canelo Alvarez by winning the Copper Box Arena.
