Boxing: Ward ends his career as World Champion

Semi heavyweight world champion Andre Ward has ended his career as a boxer.The 33-year-old announced this on Thursday.His tired body could no longer withstand the demands.

“I quit because my body is no longer able to cope with the harshness of the sport and therefore I am no longer hungry”, the US-American said on his website.Ward is the reigning World Champion of the WBA, IBF and WBO associations.

The 2004 Olympic gold medallist won the title in November 2016 against Russia’s Sergei Kovalev, against whom he successfully competed in his last professional fight in June 2017.At the end of his career he has an impressive record of 32:0 victories.
