Golf: Masson in Ottawa before final round with top-10 chance

One week after the European defeat in the Solheim Cup against the USA at the US tournament in Canada’s capital Ottawa, Caroline Masson has the chance to clinch a top 10 position.The 28-year-old from Gladbeck needed 69 strokes on the Par-71 course on the third round and was 16th with 208 strokes before the final day.

Masson is only two shots behind sixth in a narrow lead group.The lead was taken by the duo Nicole Broch Larsen (Denmark) and Mo Martin (USA) with 203 strokes each.Sandra Gal (Düsseldorf) missed the cut after two rounds (143) by seven strokes.

Masson had won her singles match against Michelle Wie with 4 and 2 last weekend on the final day of the team competition after three defeats in the four-man team.Nevertheless, Europe lost out in the 15th minute.The men’s Ryder Cup pendant against defending champions USA with 11.5:16.5.
