The Los Angeles Dodgers are worried about the elbows of Shortstop Cory Seager. However, this was not the reason for a break of one day on Monday.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts plans to let Seager play for the rest of the season every day, even though the shortstop is not in the best physical condition.Rather, Seager is currently playing in the “Preservation Mode”, as Roberts described it.
On Sunday Seager caught Seager’s eye with a bad throw in the 1-7 defeat of the Washington Nationals. On Monday he was sitting on the bench against Philadelphia Phillies, which was due to the fact that he had fought a foul ball against the calf on Sunday and was spared.
The elbow, however, has been in the spotlight since August. An MRI revealed swelling and inflammation at the end of August.Seager said the other day that an operation in the off-season was possible.
“I don’t think it will affect his striking power. But he doesn’t show his full arm strength, because I think he wants to avoid too much strain,”Roberts continued.
Seager was the NL Rookie of the Year 2016 and beats this season. 303 with 20 homeruns and 71 RBI’s. Over this he stands at 4.5 Wins above Replacement (WAR) and thus only behind Cody Bellinger at the Dodgers.
