SPOX: Mr. Wolfe, you are the first German title holder at a WWE event, there must have been a lot of hitting on you.How were the hours after your success?
Wolfe: Right after the fight I had a photo shoot and then watched the brilliant takeover live in the hall.Only after that we went back to the hotel and went straight to bed.
SPOX: You didn’t celebrate this historic moment right away?
Wolfe: We had a monstrous trip from Orlando to New York, we had little sleep. We’ve been in the hall all day because of the preparation. But of course it was all very emotional, a mixture of adrenaline, relief, joy and fatigue. You’re already happy when you can finally go to bed and process all this.
SPOX: But now, almost two days after the fight, did you realize what you’ve achieved?
Wolfe: Of course, I’m totally happy and motivated to continue now.The work doesn’t stop. It’s already going on this week.I’m rested, full of energy and want to get going again.
SPOX: In such moments do you think back to the oxen’s tour of days gone by?After all, they have been practising the sport for many years and have toured all over Europe.
Wolfe: Definitely.I often got stuck and when I had a barricade, a big obstacle, I think back how it used to be.The time before the WWE, the many experiences, were very helpful. It’s a difficult beginning, but I had already built something up for myself and have always been motivated anew. There are constantly new goals, new obstacles, but also new challenges. This keeps me on the ground, so that I don’t get high-flying or arrogant and don’t rest, but continue to work and fight.
SPOX: How long have you been training in the States and how did it come about?
Wolfe: I had tried my hand at a tryout in London in 2014 and started without much expectation, but I really did clear up and was signed by the WWE accordingly.
SPOX: And that was your big dream come true?
Wolfe: Absolutely. You become a wrestler 99 percent of the time because you’re a wrestling fan.I consumed a lot of WWE back then. When I get the chance to work for the WWE as a wrestler, then of course I do that.It is the goal of every wrestler to perform at WWE.Through the tryout I got in touch with it and became my target.
SPOX: What were the risks involved?Did you find this step easy?
Wolfe: My only security was the contract with WWE, without it I wouldn’t be here.He offers me the certainty that I can build a new life for myself. But it’s also clear: It was a great poker game. But I had this big goal and wanted to take the risk and left everything behind me.It’s not for nothing that they say,”Whoever dares nothing wins nothing,” but I’ve done it and won.
SPOX: Your boss, Triple H, also congratulated you immediately after the fight. In the ring, he was mostly known as a villain. How’s he doing as a boss?
Wolfe: He’s brilliant.Probably few people have as much knowledge of matter as he does and you can tell.I’ve known it before.Whoever used to be a wrestler knows what he’s talking about.I am very grateful that such a person gives me tips and praise.
SPOX: What makes him so special as a boss?
Wolfe:”We feel very well treated and safe.He works very professionally and we trust him as he trusts us.It is a giving and taking and thus an ingenious working relationship.
SPOX: Do you think that your success can also give a boost to German wrestling?Recently, headlines around Tim Wiese dominated the front pages.
Wolfe: I think so and would say:’ We’ll leave it with the would-be wrestlers!’ NXT signed some more German wrestlers with Axel Dieter and Fabian Aichner.Of course, I also represent our colours. In addition, WWE has a great deal of interest in Western Europe and is investing accordingly in the camps. We are on the right track and now it’s time for real wrestlers from Germany.
