Noah Syndergaard made his comeback for the New York Mets after a break of several months. He pitched an inning and failed to run against the Washington Nationals in Citi Field.
“Thor was the first time since the age of 30.April back on the Mound. At that time he had suffered a partial tear of the big back muscle and since then he has been standing on the DL.
“It was great.I have invested a great deal of time and effort in the last four months to get back out there,”Syndergaard explained afterwards.
Syndergaard, who was supposed to pug an inning anyway, was enthusiastically acclaimed by the local fans when his name was mentioned. He also threw another 99 miles per hour fastball. He threw five pitches and did a flyout against Trea Turner, then he gave a single to Jayson Werth.Shortly afterwards he finally forced Daniel Murphy to play a double play.
“I don’t feel much different from when I started a game, but it’s a great sign that I survived the inning well,”Syndergaard said with relief.
