Cycling: Great honour for Bernhard Eisel

Bernhard Eisel has been elected by his colleagues to the Athletes’ Commission of the World Cycling Federation (UCI).As the UCI announced in a press release, the election, which was held in Bergen/Norway as part of the World Cup, was clearly in favour of the 36-year-old Styrian.

Among the three professionals selected, Eisel, who was driving for Team Dimension Data, received 71 percent of the votes.

In the women’s event, the Dutchwoman Marianne Vos was elected to the Commission.The duo represents the road cycling athletes and is elected for the next four years.

Eisel has already been a member of the athlete’s committee, which has now been increased from 13 to 20 members from all UCI disciplines.He announced via Twitter that he wanted to contact as many riders as possible to discuss problems and suggestions with them.
