Sports policy: WADA: Russia must accept McLaren report

WADA insists that those in charge of the Russian Anti-Doping Authority RUSADA officially acknowledge the results of the McLaren report. In addition, the World Anti-Doping Agency does not want to accept RUSADA again until two further conditions are fulfilled: Russia’s government must give WADA full access to control of the Moscow doping laboratory.

In addition, WADA intends to increase its sales from 27.till 29.On September 9, RUSADA will be inspected on site. This three-point plan was adopted by the WADA Executive Committee at a meeting in Paris.

Two reports by Canadian law professor Richard McLaren have demonstrated a government-run doping system in Russia.Among other things, the hosts manipulated massive doping tests during the 2014 Winter Games in Pyeongchang.WADA then classified RUSADA as “not compliant” (non-compliant) in November 2015.

WADA President Craig Reedie said in Paris that the next opportunity for RUSADA to be reintegrated into the RUSADA was announced at the Executive Meeting of the top doping authority on 15/15 October.November in Seoul.Reedie had most recently spoken out against a demand by several national anti-doping agencies for a complete ban on Russia from the Winter Games in Pyeongchang in February 2018.

In Paris, the Scotsman also praised RUSADA for its progress:”A good National Anti-Doping Agency must be independent,” said Reedie, who is also an IOC member:”We believe that RUSADA has come a long way on the road to independence.
