Maxi Kleber enters his first NBA season with the Dallas Mavericks. At the start of the training camp, the German spoke about changes in his game and the cooperation with Dirk Nowitzki.
“I’m getting used to the fact that a different basketball is expecting me here than in Europe,”Kleber is quoted by Dallas News,”but I want to adapt and work hard. That’s how I’ve done it all along in my career – and I’m going to get a feel for the system here, too.”
Kleber meets his German colleague Dirk Nowitzki at the Mavs – both from Würzburg. However, this did not play a decisive role in the decision pro Mavericks, especially since there was no extraordinary relationship between the two before the signature. But still,”To be here with him now and work with him is, of course, something very special for me.”
Kleber’s first impressions of the Dirkster were consistently positive:”He is a very modest guy”, who is always for fun and makes it very easy to talk to him.
In the off-season, Kleber had signed a two-year contract with the Mavs (2 million dollars), the second year of which includes a team option. The 25-year-old had previously played in the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich.
