NBA: Melo:”Deals with rockets and cavs were done”

Carmelo Anthony was traded from the New York Knicks to the Oklahoma City Thunder.Previously, there were many rumors about the Houston Rockets and Cleveland Cavaliers as possible destinations. The All-Star confirmed that a deal with the rockets and cavs was almost perfect.

“A deal with Houston was made early, but for some reason behind the scenes, he didn’t go through it,”Melo told SiriusXM Radio.”After the deal was broken, we had to be careful and discuss other options.”

According to a source from ESPN, the trade went into rush after the Knicks introduced their new GM, Scott Perry.Afterwards, no third team was found to finalize the trade.

Melo explained that he had already resigned himself to playing for the Knicks again before Perry asked if he would not drop his no-trade clause for the Thunders:”It wouldn’t have been good if I’d been there at Media Day after everything that had happened in the summer.”

At the Thunder, Melo will now face Russell Westbrook and Paul George. As Melo explained, he almost played with PG-13 in the Cavs,”It’s funny because PG and I should have been in Cleveland on draft night. We talked about it and the deal was already done, but during the drafts he still burst. We stayed in touch, but never talked about OKC.”

I had lost my motivation a little bit in New York, but now I feel like I’m being born again. The atmosphere here is quite different in the organisation and the whole city.I feel that.”
