For the first time in six years, the New York Knicks are entering a new season without Carmelo Anthony. One of the hopefuls is Tim Hardaway Jr. who returned to New York in the summer. The Shooting Guard wants to reach the playoffs with the Knicks – already this year.
“I am fully focused and here to win games,” Hardaway said in a conversation with the New York Post,”The front office, my fellow players and coaching staff must have confidence in me to go to court and help the team win games.
Hardaway was usually optimistic about the Big Apple’s goal, too:”My expectation of the team is that we will reach the playoffs,” said Hardaway, adding that the focus will be on the sporting things, and not on the big contract THJ signed in the summer of 2004 (4 years, 71 million dollars).
“I don’t really care,”Hardaway said looking back at the criticism of his paper,”People should forget that and look to the future. We need to focus on the new season.”
In 2015, the Knicks traded the son of Miami Heat Legend against a second-round pick to Atlanta.Phil Jackson was still in charge of New York at the time. Now THJ is back with the team that once drafted him.
