Ice hockey: Nuremberg new front-runner

The Nuremberg Ice Tigers are again the leaders of the DEL standings.The Franconians won 5-4 (3-1,0-2,2-1) against the Fischtown Pinguins from Bremerhaven on the ninth day of the game, beating the Fischtown Pinguins from Bremerhaven and taking third place with 19 points.

In between, the seven-time champion Eisbären Berlin (18) pushed his way through a 4-2 (1-1,2-0,1-1) at the Düsseldorf EC.

The Augsburg Panthers, on the other hand, continued their downward trend.The team of coach Michael Stewart won his fourth consecutive defeat against Schwenninger Wild Wings at the 3:5 (1:0,2:2,0:3) despite a 3:0 lead.The ERC Ingolstadt scored a clear home win in 5-0 (1-0,3-0,1-0,1-0) against tail-light Iserlohn Roosters and also consolidated its place in the top group with 17 points.

For Nuremberg, Leonhard Pföderl was the decisive man with the late winning goal (57) and a total of two goals.Augsburg, still the leader of the standings after five matches, looked like the sure winner after goals from Thomas Holzmann (12th) and Michael Davies (21st/34th).Then, however, the encounter fell over.
