Ski jumping: Wellinger second in Klingenthal

Andreas Wellinger finished second in the final of the Summer Grand Prix of ski jumpers in Klingenthal behind the Polish high-flyer Dawid Kubacki.Kubacki won the summer series with five victories in five competitions, and in Klingenthal he ousted the leading Wellinger from the lead after the first round.

“I would like to become even better in the next weeks and months with a lot of training and then wait and see what else is enough for in the winter”, said Wellinger.After Severin Freund’s new cruciate ligament rupture, the 22-year-old from Ruhpolding is expected to be number one in the German team on his way to the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang in February 2018, as he was last winter.
