Cycling: Olympic cycling champion Sanchez: B-test also positive

The Spaniard Samuel Sanchez has been convicted of doping.As his team BMC announced on Wednesday evening, the B-sample confirmed the intake of the growth hormone GHRP-2.The 39-year-old Olympic champion of Beijing 2008 was crowned 9th Olympic gold medallist in Beijing.After a training check, the results were tested positive and excluded from the Vuelta on August 8th.

BMC took immediate action and terminated Sanchez’s contract expiring at the end of the season with immediate effect.

Sanchez has been in the service of BMC since 2014, having previously won the Tour de France mountain jersey with Euskaltel in 2011.

The peptide GHRP-2, which was discovered at Sanchez and is said to provide rapid muscle gain, had already been discovered by the Italian pros Stefano Pirazzi and Nicola Ruffoni of Team Bardiani in May before the Giro d’ Italia.
