MLB: Boston Red Sox to replace Eduardo Nunez with Chris Young

The Boston Red Sox have replaced the injured infielder Eduardo Nunez in the ALDS squad with outfielder Chris Young. This step was applied for on Thursday evening and approved by the MLB.

Nunez started game 1 of the ALDS against the Houston Astros (2:8) as Designated Hitter, but after his first At-Bat he had to be carried away from the field in great pain. He’s been suffering from compression in the ligamentous apparatus of his right knee for weeks. Thus, he played in only one of the last 20 season games of Boston.

With the Move, Nunez could only be reinstated in the World Series, as he is no longer eligible for ALCS.Young again beat this year. 235 with seven home runs and 25 RBI.

“I’ve had a lot of treatments, some simulated games – we’ve done everything possible to be ready,”Nunez lamented his situation.”Now we obviously know that my knee is not ready.”
