In addition to the competition jumps in the two individual competitions on Saturday and Sunday, Friday’s qualifying jump will also be included in this overall standings.
This enables the athletes to score points for a total of five jumps. The qualification is valid for both individual competitions, an additional qualification on Sunday in the run-up to the second individual jump is not necessary.
The “Willingen Five”overall winner receives an extra prize money of 25,000 euros in addition to the usual premiums for the day’s evaluation.
“We are looking forward to this new competition mode at our cult World Cup, because it is also about an overall standings from beginning to end and promises additional excitement”, said Jürgen Hensel, President of SC Willingen and head of the OC.
He is also said to lure the world’s elite to North Hesse, where they will be jumping for the first time in the morning because of their arrival to Olympia on Sunday.
The mode is also reminiscent of the “Raw Air”tour, which took place for the first time last winter and will also take place in 2018 with stops in Oslo, Lillehammer, Trondheim and Vikersund.
