For the Texans, an early evening of oblivion was in the offing. In the first drive of the game Whtiney Mercilus (breast) and J. J. were injured.Watt (knee) and could not return to the game.Nevertheless, the defensive action was only slightly weakened.Against rookie sensation Kareem Hunt, the Texans-D did a good job.

The Chiefs, however, went down the peloton thanks to a remarkable efficiency in 3rd down situations and scored points on each drive in the first half.Alex Smith even found slot receivers on their outside-routes in 3rd-and-long situations.Or Travis Kelce. The tight end was a key factor in the fifth win of the season.

For the Texans, however, a week after the 57-point gala against the Tennessee Titans, there was not much to do.The passing game did not take place at all at first. After 30 minutes Deshaun Watson (16/31,261 YDS, 5 TD) had only four out of twelve successful pass attempts for 60 yards. In the second round, the rookie then recorded a few big play touchdowns in desperation mode.

A race to catch up with Will Fuller’s two touchdown-receptions was cancelled out by the offense of the guests.Smith found simple solutions to keep the opponent in motion and the clock running. The dominance was particularly evident during the season. The Chiefs had control of football for 38-17 minutes.

Houston Texans (2-3) – Kansas City Chiefs (5-0)34:42 (0:3,7:20,6:0,21:19) BOXSCORE

Alex Smith’s strong season continues. The chief’s quarterback played an excellent game against the Texans’ decimated front.Against the Three-Man-Rush, Smith found the gap in almost every situation and bought the necessary time for a healthy pass.Smith also benefited from the work of his line. However, this doesn’t diminish the next top performance of the quarterback.

From the beginning, the Chiefs had problems getting their running game on the road.Smith was therefore repeatedly forced into third-and-long situations. However, this was only a minor problem for the 33-year-old.In this season Smith seems to make no mistakes and so he found the right decisions even under pressure. In the first round, the Chiefs made seven of their ten third down attempts. The stats did not change until the garbage time.

After the first half, Travis Kelce was expected to arrive at this point. The tight end was Smith’s answer to everything, but a concussion ended Kelce’s evening early.Smith (29/37,324 YDS, 3 TD) played with a frightening calm and constancy. In the third down situations, he usually found the right solution. The passes came with high accuracy and even though he had the opportunity to leave the pocket Smith found the gap.

A somewhat strange pick with three touchdown receipts. Two of them, however, were made in the garbage time.Until then, Hopkins stood at a reception despite nine targets. The Wideout was almost a non-factor in the Texans’ game.He got entangled in trash talk arguments with Cornerback Terrance Mitchell and lost his concentration and focus. At the end, however, there is still a nice statline.
