MLB: Rockies: Greg Holland becomes Free Agent

The Colorado Rockies Closer, Greg Holland, has decided against an option to extend the contract in Denver and will become a Free Agent in the coming off-season.The 31-year-old will be looking for a longer-term contract with MLB.

Holland came to the Rockies this year for $6 million after missing out on a right elbow injury throughout the 2016 season.

The three-time All-Star scored 41 saves this season, with only Alex Colome of the Tampa Bay Rays scoring more (47) in both leagues, while the Netherlands recorded an ERA of 3.61 throughout the regular season.

After last year’s agreement with Aroldis Chapman, Kenley Jansen and Mark Melancon, three closers each signed a contract worth over 60 million dollars, there are signs that the coming off-season will see a somewhat quieter free agency on the closing market.Wade Davis of the Chicago Cubs is another big name that has no contract for the coming season.
