The San Francisco 49ers broke up with linebacker NaVorro Bowman.This was confirmed by Niners-GM John Lynch on Friday evening.According to this, the player himself had asked for the release.

“NaVorro has given his heart and soul to this team over the past eight years.We are extremely grateful for this”, Lynch is quoted in the official statement of the franchise.The 28-year-old apparently asked for the contract to be terminated himself.Only last summer Bowman surprisingly extended the length of the tunnel until 2022.

“Kyle Shanahan and I met with NaVorro and the conversation showed that it was best for both parties.Even if he moves on, he will always be considered one of the biggest players here, wearing the colours red and gold,”Lynch explained.

Bowman, who joined the Niners in 2010 as a third round pick, collected 808 tackles during his time at Frisco.He was elected four times to the All-Pro Team.According to media reports, Bowman’s consultants have already contacted all teams.
