The San Francisco 49ers have a new starting quarterback.Coach Kyle Shanahan has Rookie C. J.Beathard named the Niners’ new number one after Brian Hoyer was replaced in the game against Washington Redskins after a weak performance in the second quarter at 0:17.
Beathard helped the 49ers in their first NFL appearance on Sunday after a 14 point gap, before Kirk Cousins and the Redskins won the game 26:24 in the last few minutes.
Already in his second drive, which ran over eleven plays and 75 yards, the 23-year-old convinced when the 49ers rounded off their posession with a 1-yard run by Carlos Hyde.At the end of the game, the quarterback scored 19 passes in 36 attempts, scoring 245 yards and a touchdown.Beathard’s last pass in the game, however, was a crucial interception on Kendall Fuller.
Beathard was drafted by the 49ers in the third round before the current season.Two weeks ago, coach Shanahan announced that Beathard was not yet an issue for the starting line-up, but Brian Hoyer had to increase significantly.
