NBA: Media: No new deal for Hood

Some rookie contracts have been prematurely extended in the past few days, but Rodney Hood of Utah Jazz is unlikely to do so.According to the Salt Lake Tribune, the Swingman is still to prove himself.

On Monday, the deadline for players who were drafted in 2014 expires. In the last few days, Joel Embiid, Gary Harris and Andrew Wiggins, among others, have received renewals from their respective teams. But this will not happen with Hood unless something completely unforeseen happens.

The Jazz believe in Hood, the 24-year-old should play an important role in the coming season anyway, as the Jazz in Gordon Hayward have lost the most important wing player. However, he has to prove that he can play aggressively and consistently before he gets a new contract.

If he meets the expectations of Jazz, however, they will be included in every offer in the coming season, if he is a Restricted Free Agent, the report goes on to say.Hood scored 12.7 points and 3.4 rebounds on average last season.

The same seems to be true for Dante Exum, who was also drafted in 2014 – the Australian is also not expected to finalize an early extension.Exum is currently injured anyway and could miss the whole season.
