NBA: Schröder dominates German duel with Dirk

The Atlanta Hawks won their first game at the Dallas Mavericks with 117:111.Led by a strong Dennis Schröder, the guests kept a cool head in a hectic closing phase. At Dallas Dennis Smith Jr.Dirk Nowitzki remained pale.

All eyes were on Dallas on Dennis Smith Jr.and the rookie also scored his first points with Alley-Oop-Dunk.But then Atlanta took control.Dennis Schröder held the reins tightly in his hand, pulled to the basket or let the spalding fly out of the midrange with alternating success.

As a result, the Mavs came back because Atlanta had big problems with the scoring.A second option was missing after Schröder.Only Rookie John Collins enlivened the game with some Hustle Plays under the basket.A putback from Nerlens Noel, including a technical foul and And One, put Dallas back into the front line in the middle of the second quarter.Atlanta’s third point guard Josh Magette and Marco Belinelli, however, managed to beat Atlanta for the first time in a 12-0 run thanks to triples from Atlanta’s third point guard.

After the switch, Dallas pushed the tempo a little bit, Smith Jr.brought his team back up with seven quick points. An open exchange of blows developed, the leadership changed again several times.Atlanta was mostly ahead, but Wes Matthews and Dwight Powell’s threesome set the pace at 100’100’6 “.One minute before the end, Dedmon put the Hawks back in front again, and it took too long for Barnes to initiate a litter.Taurean Prince and Demon brought the game home from the line.

Schröder was the top scorer from Atlanta with 28 points (13/26 FG), and Marco Belinelli from the bank was also able to contribute 20 points (4/6 threesomes).Collins clogged up several times, but scored 14 points. In Dallas, Frischling Smith Jr. (16 points, 8 assists, 6/11 FG), together with Nerlens Noel (11 rebounds) led his team in scoring.Dirk Nowitzki struggled with his throw (2/10 FG), but ended the game with 10 points and 6 rebounds.Wesley Matthews pocketed five threesomes for 15 points. The third German, Maxi Kleber, was not used.

Dallas Mavericks vs.Atlanta Hawks: This way to the BOXSCORE!

Dennis Schröder.Strong first game as leader.Since Dallas had little ring protection to offer, the Brunswick was able to pull and score steadily to the basket.Had a bit of luck with a few calls, but in the fourth quarter very confident and important points.Plus 7 assists and only 2 turnovers.

Harrison Barnes.Together with Nowitzki (both together 7/27 FG) didn’t want to converge much.No factor at all from outside (0/6 threesomes). In the third quarter with some good approaches, but then invisible again. In the final phase he fought several times on the line (8/9 FT), but then again with misses and wrong decisions. After Switches in the duel against Schröder mostly without chance.

The Mavs were extremely sleepy at first and were well-deserved to be trailing by double digits during the break. After the change, Dallas got better and better and scored well thanks to Smith Jr.significantly lighter. Also interesting: neither Nowitzki nor Noel, who had been strong before, were on the field in Crunchtime.Powell got the advantage and justified this with a good shooting from outside.Defensive but with weaknesses, which gave Atlanta a second chance, not least because of Dedmon’s putback, who finally won the game.
