NBA: After Faustschlag: Portis apologizes

After his fist punch, which broke Teammate Nikola Mirotic’s jaw and caused a concussion, Bulls-Forward Bobby Portis apologized to his team.

Bulls coach Fred Hoiberg didn’t want to reveal any details, but he said on Friday after the training that Portis apologized at a team meeting, saying “What was said there stays in the team,”Hoiberg explained.

Portis was suspended for eight games after his strike, but on Friday he was allowed to train for the first time,”It was good to have him back here. Of course, we also hope that Niko will be able to return as soon as possible,”Hoiberg said.

Mirotic should be at least four weeks away “Niko and I have exchanged some messages. He’s still pretty shaken up. But he is a little better every day,”Hoiberg said.
