Sensational performance by Jakob Pöltl! The first Austrian in the NBA wins a double-double for the first time in the 97:101 defeat of his Toronto Raptors against the San Antonio Spurs.
The Viennese has ten points and twelve rebounds at the end of the game. With this, he steals the show from his center rival Lucas Nogueira. The Brazilian stands in the Starting Five instead of the injured Lithuanian Jonas Valanciunas, but Pöltl gets more time (25:45 minutes) in the end.
The 22-year-old is particularly impressive in the defensive. For the first time in his career, Pöltl rebounded in double digits and equalized his personal best mark with three blocks. He also scored the best plus/minus score of his team (+13).
The Austrian has so far presented himself in top form in the new NBA season. It wasn’t until the night of Saturday that Pöltl set a career record against the Philadelphia 76ers with 14 points.
Nevertheless, the Raptors will have to take their first defeat of the season. DeMar DeRozan stands out with 28 points in the Canadians, LaMarcus Aldridge is the top scorer with 20 points in the Spurs.
