Biathlon World Biathlon Federation IBU has suspended former vice world champion Teja Gregorin from Slovenia for the time being due to a positive re-test of the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver.
This was announced by the IBU on Thursday. Gregorin (37) had a growth hormone in her blood during the competitions in Whistler, which confirmed the B assay. She achieved her best result at that time in the mass start with fifth place.
At the end of November Gregorin is due to testify before the Disciplinary Commission of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The Slovenian NOK and IBU are also invited to the hearing.
Only after the decision of the IOC Commission will the Anti-Doping Commission of the World Federation decide on further measures.
Gregorin had won silver in the singles at the 2009 World Championships in Pyeongchang, South Korea, next February’s venue for the Winter Games. In 2012 in Ruhpolding, too, she came second in the mixed relay. At the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi she won bronze in the pursuit.
