Paul Pierce played with John Wall on the Wizards for one season, and today The Truth is ESPN expert. In this role, he now called Wall the best point guard in the league.
“He’s so fast and dynamic,” Pierce said to The Jump,”You can’t take him too tightly because he’ll just pass you by. He’s dying with right or left over you. He has handles like a little man, even though he’s over six feet tall. He has the tempo of a running back. That’s why you have to give him room and the jumper. Otherwise, he’ll embarrass you all day long.”
In the NBA, there are plenty of top-class point guards with (among others) Stephen Curry, Russell Westbrook, Chris Paul or James Harden, and last season Pierce also named Isaiah Thomas and not Wall the best point guard at the Eastern Conference. Now Pierce holds it however with Wall.
“His speed is like that of The Flash,”Pierce explained,”He’s like a whirlwind, probably the fastest player with a ball. If he’s running towards you, you’re at his mercy – and you’ll probably wind up in the SportsCenter.”
Wall had played 23.1 points, 10.7 assists and 2 steals per game last season, and he was also voted into the All-NBA Third Team.
