The Pittsburgh Steelers have downgraded Wide Receiver Martavis Bryant to Scout Team because of his repeated escapades. Bryant is missing for the game in Week 8 on Sunday against Detroit Lions.
As NFL network insider Ian Rappaport reported, the Steelers informed their receivers on Wednesday that they were not planning with him for the upcoming game against the Lions. Bryant himself cited “social media” as the reason for the degradation.
Bryant, who was suspended for the entire 2016 season, had previously complained to Instagram about his short deployment time, and on Tuesday he repeated to ESPN:”If they don’t involve me more often in the future, I want to leave Pittsburgh.”
The rookie JuJu Smith-Schuster was on the field with more snaps this season than Bryant, who so far has only collected 18 receptions for 234 yards.”I just want to be happy,”said Bryant,”I’d love to be happy here in Pittsburgh, but if not, I’ll just keep going somewhere else.”
Mike Tomlin, coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, had categorically ruled out a Bryant trade on Tuesday at a press conference.
