NFL: 4 years!

The Jacksonville Jaguars currently offer probably the best defense in the league – now the team has reached an agreement with a top performer: Linebacker Telvin Smith signed for four years.

Jacksonville confirmed the agreement with Smith, according to NFL network insider Ian Rapoport, the linebacker will receive a four-year contract extension. It’s supposed to be worth up to $44 million.

Smith is a key component of the Jaguars defense. Together with Myles Jack and Paul Posluszny he forms a versatile, flexible linebacker corps, his enormous athleticism and explosiveness has already helped him to two interceptions, a Forced Fumble and a touchdown in the current season.

“Telvin is an important part of our defense. We want to identify and reward the players who will continue to help this team win, identify and reward games. Telvin is definitely one of those players.”

The one-time five-round pick himself said:”I am delighted to have the opportunity to continue my career in Jacksonville and stay with the team that believed in me when I came into the league.
