Ski-Alpine: Rebensburg wins World Cup opener in Sölden

Ski racer Viktoria Rebensburg has made a perfect start into the Olympic winter. The 28-year-old won the prelude to the Alpine Ski World Cup in Sölden, Austria, in her specialty giant slalom.

The 2010 Olympic champion of Vancouver managed to move up from third place to the very top with a strong run in the final. Behind Rebensburg came Tessa Worley (France) and Manuela Moelgg (Italy) in second and third place.

This was the first time since March 2016 that Kreutherin Rebensburg has achieved a World Cup success. It’s the 14th in all. Rebensburg celebrated twelve of them in the giant slalom.

She had already triumphed in Sölden seven years ago. Maren Wiesler (Münster Valley) took the 26th place. World points. Jessica Hilzinger (Oberstdorf) and Patrizia Dorsch (Schellenberg) had missed the qualification for the second round as well as superstar Lindsey Vonn (USA).
