Handball: After DHB reforms and test match victories: Hanning demands quick successes

After the reforms decided upon and the convincing appearances of the two national handball teams on the anniversary day of the 100th anniversary of the sport, DHB Vice President Bob Hanning urges hard work and demands rapid success.

“We have celebrated extensively now, but we have no time to lose,” Hanning told the SID:”Now there is only one direction for everyone: forward!

In recent years, the association has recruited 40 per cent more staff, with a total of almost 70 per cent new employees,”That’s why we have to set the highest benchmarks at all levels, just like in sport, against which we can be judged,”said Hanning.

At the DHB Bundestag, the delegates approved the comprehensive package of measures “Perspective 2020+” with a large majority at the weekend, which is intended to further advance the professionalization of the association. The new statutes provide for a full-time executive board under the chairmanship of the current Secretary General Mark Schober.

In addition, the Presidium around CEO Andreas Michelmann and Hanning was re-elected for a further four years. On Sunday, the DHB men defeated Spain 28:24 and the women’s runners-up in the European Championship, leaving the Netherlands with no chance at 36:26.

Last weekend triggered “great expectations because I have the feeling that we can achieve a lot together”, said Hanning. As the most important goal apart from the sporty, he called the acquisition of new members.

We have to take handball to schools and kindergartens,”said Hanning:” To do this, we have to make maximum use of the two world championships in our own country. Also from the sporting side.”

Explained goal both at the forthcoming Women’s World Cup at home (1. till 17. December) as well as at the European Men’s Championship in January 2019 is a medal.
