Handball: Flensburg third after defeat against Celje

The SG Flensburg-Handewitt has consolidated its third place in Group B of the Champions League. The North Germans won their sixth round matchday against RK Celje/Slovenia with 33:28 (16:15).

Lasse Svan with seven goals on the right and Rasmus Lauge and Kentin Mahe with five goals each were the most successful Flensburg casters. Nine times Gal Marguc, outside right, met Celje.

With a win over Celje, which was sometimes a difficult one, Flensburg remains the leading KC Veszprem/Hungary (9 points) and Paris St. Germain (8) close on the heels. The SG benefited from the fact that Matic Suholeznik, the SG’s defender, saw the red card in the second minute after a rough challenge against Holger Glandorf, in a game against the Slovenian underdog.

The Bundesliga’s next group game will be played by the third place in the Bundesliga league on 11 September. November at Meshkov Brest in Russia. On Saturday (4. November) the last stumbling German record champion THW Kiel. The Kieler are in the group of eight with three points penultimate in the standings. The first in the group qualifies directly for the quarter-finals, the teams in second to sixth place go into the last sixteen.
