MLB: Yuli Gurriel is hooted for a long time thanks to Rich Hill

Despite his racist gesture from Game 3 of the World Series, First Baseman Yuli Gurriel of the Houston Astros escaped a lock in the series. Pitcher Rich Hill of the Los Angeles Dodgers made sure that he didn’t get away with it in the Dodger Stadium.

Gurriel was already booed by the local fans in Los Angeles during the introduction of the teams before Match 6 of the World Series. When he entered the game for the first time, the booing became louder again and lasted longer.

The latter didn’t happen by chance, because Hill wanted it this way! The left-hander took his time to give the fans the chance to express their opinion on Gurriel’s actions in the direction of Dodgers pitcher Yu Darvish.

“This is a discouraging subject. Unfortunately, I do not think that the punishment was appropriate. I think that the fans were right to comment and understand what was going on. I therefore gave them the time to express their opinion,”Hill then explained the delay he caused.

Gurriel had been suspended by the league for five games of the 2018 season because MLB commissioner Rob Manfred believed that the penalty should have no effect on the current World Series, so as not to punish the entire team. Gurriel has accepted the punishment and is not paid for the period in question.
