Olympia: Müller criticizes NHL’s exclusion from Olympic Games

Moritz Müller has informed NHL of the suspension of their league players from the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang (9. till 25. Personally, I find it a great pity that the NHL presumes to prohibit athletes from participating in such a tournament,”said the captain of the Cologne sharks on the fringes of the presentation of the Olympic clothing of the German team in Düsseldorf.

Müller pointed out the great importance of the Olympic Games, for which “wars have already been cancelled”, saying that “then a professional league should also be able to interrupt the game”.

With regard to the sporting prospects of the DEB team, Müller sees the exclusion of the NHL pros as an advantage:”We are a nation that has to forego five or six players, while other nations give up 20 to 30. Perhaps we can move closer in terms of performance,”said the 31-year-old, who is hoping for his first participation in the Olympic Games.
