MLB: Upton prolonged at the Angels

Outfielder Justin Upton stays with the Los Angeles Angels. Both sides agreed on a five-year contract worth $106 million by the end of the 2022 season.

The Angels announced the agreement on Thursday after several media had already reported on it. The 30-year-old had an exit clause for this winter in his previous deal, which would have earned him 22.125 million dollars annually by the end of 2021.

The Angels didn’t have Upton until 31. August in a trade by the Detroit Tigers. In contrast, the Tigers received several minor league talents.

Last season, the four-time all-star. 273 beat 35 home runs and 109 RBI. He began his career in 2007 at the Arizona Diamondbacks, moved to the Atlanta Braves in 2013 and played for the San Diego Padres in 2015 before moving to Detroit in 2016.
