Running Back Ezekiel Elliott will be available to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 9 of the NFL season against the Kansas City Chiefs next weekend. An appeals court has granted the NFLPA’s request and temporarily lifted the six-game ban.
The appellate court in the second court district granted the union a stay of office until Sunday, after which Elliott will be barred again. Unless the Court of Appeal also denies the NFLPA a preliminary injunction against the punishment by the NFL next week. This would then be valid until a final decision of the Court of First Instance on appeal is made. Elliott may then play indefinitely.
If not, Elliott would miss the games against Atlanta, Philadelphia, Los Angeles Chargers, Washington, New York Giants and Oakland and wouldn’t be eligible to play again until week 16 on Christmas Eve against the Seahawks.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell had suspended Elliott for a case of domestic violence against his former girlfriend Tiffany Thompson under the Personal Conduct Policy. Elliott wasn’t charged and is denying misconduct.
