Quarterback Jameis Winston from Tampa Bay Buccaneers had to leave the game against New Orleans Saints in Week 9 at halftime: his already damaged shoulder again caused problems.
In the Bucs’ 10:30 defeat, Winston was replaced after the first half by backup Ryan Fitzpatrick. Already in the first 30 minutes it was obvious to him that his shoulder, which he had already injured against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 6, was not in order: Winston gave 7 of his 13 passes to the man, for a total of 67 yards.
After the match, Winston explained that it would be the same pains that had hindered him for the past few weeks. Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network reported that the team physicians had decided to take Winston out of the match. The 23-year-old had repeatedly fallen on the right shoulder against the Saints on several occasions.
Bucs coach Dirk Koetter explained that the shoulder will be x-rayed to see if it is a new injury.
With a record of 2-6, Tampa Bay is in last place in the NFC South and can only count on minimal chances for the playoffs.
