NBA: Against the doubt of the Zen Master

The New York Knicks have a positive record after nine games. This is mainly due to Kristaps Porzingis, who has taken the next step in his development and is an unrestricted franchisee. Former President Phil Jackson had doubts about this a few months ago. Only the brother and agent of the Latvian is worrying these days.

You can choose your family. Lonzo Ball and his eccentric father will know that only too well. But Kristaps Porzingis can also sing a song about it. As strong as the Latvian played in the first few weeks of the season, his performances were overshadowed by statements from his brother Janis, who is also the agent of the new superstar of the New York Knicks.

“Kristaps is their flagship, so they shouldn’t piss him off,”said Janis Porzingis in an interview with a Latvian media,”If they do, Kristaps might say after the season that it’s not so cool in New York,” the fans of the Knickerbockers might have their hearts in their pants. After all the drama about Carmelo Anthony, there should be peace now.

Porzingis tried to straighten things out before the game against the Phoenix Suns,”I love New York and I still see myself as a kink for a long time. At the same time, the Latvian also stressed that his brother’s statements had been taken out of context.

His performances don’t seem to influence the talk anyway. A few hours after Porzingis had philosophised about his brother’s statements, Porzingis played 37 points against the Phoenix Suns for the second time this season, once again showing the full range of his game.

Especially one scene got stuck. In the middle of the fourth quarter, KP Rookie trained Josh Jackson and blocked the Suns forward without mercy, only to set off a few seconds later for the Monster Dunk plus foul on the other side.

The audience cried out, there was an atmosphere similar to that of a playoff game, even minutes later.’ MVP’ chants included.”The energy in the Garden was incredible at that moment,”enthused the celebrated speaker.”I had to calm myself down first, so that I could hit the free-throw.” As a reminder: The opponents were the stuffy Suns, who were 35 percent out of the field that evening.

But there is a spirit of optimism. Porzingis has an average of 30.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game. It is the reason why people are curious and continue to flow into the mecca of basketball. Porzingis’ brother also remarked,”Who do the New Yorkers want to see? For the most part, it’s Kristaps. The organization should be aware of that.”

In the Big Apple, you are aware of this, but not all stars of the franchise have been treated well. Patrick Ewing was chased away at the end of his career, the Causa Melo is well known. In baseball, for example, a certain Derek Jeter was ruthlessly booed by the fans when it didn’t work out.

He has the drive to become the best player in the league,”says his coach Jeff Hornacek,” He is over 2.20 metres tall and has the ability to dominate at both ends of the court. He worked hard this summer and is still young. He’s gonna be much better.”

Without Melo, the unicorn now has all freedoms, the offense runs over him. Porzingis must feel like being in the land of milk and honey, after he was able to watch Anthony dribble holes in the ground during the first two years of his career and fire one throw after another from the midrange.
