The Washington Wizards have recently attracted attention time and again with their full-bodied statements. Among other things, Bradley Beal had emphasized that they were the best team at the Eastern Conference. Center Marcin Gortat has now complained about this.
On Sunday, the capitals won the Raptors with 107:96 and are thus on a 5-4 record. Gortat said after the Washington Post:”Just because we won the game today doesn’t mean that everything is fine again. There are some things we need to work on. First of all, we need to become a more humble team and just work harder.”
Gortat himself is considered a relatively “loud” player, but in this case he appealed to his team to talk less and do more. His team mates agreed with him:”He’s not wrong about this,” said Kelly Oubre. We must stop talking to the media and let the deeds speak for themselves.”
Beal himself also admitted that Gortat’s appeal was correct:”I think we may have overestimated ourselves a bit. We have to realize that we are not yet where we want to be as a team. We still have a long way to go. And this begins with humility.”
