Jose Altuve has the respect of his colleagues at MLB. On Wednesday, the Second Baseman of Houston Astros was voted Player of the Year at the Players Choice Awards. He also won another award.
Altuve, who also won the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers with the Astros, repeated last year’s success and was also voted outstanding player of the American League by the MLB players. He is the first player since Miguel Cabrera 2012 and 2013 to receive both awards for two consecutive years. The price in the NL, however, was dusted by Giancarlo Stanton of the Miami Marlins.
Anthony Rizzo of the Chicago Cubs, on the other hand, received the Man of the Year award after having already received the Roberto Clemente Award.
The best pitcher in each league were Corey Kluber (AL) and Max Scherzer (NL), while the rookie awards went to Aaron Judge (AL) and Cody Bellinger (NL). Mike Moustakas (AL) and Ryan Zimmerman (NL) were elected to the Comeback Players of the Year.
