Ben Simmons has so far won the Philadelphia 76ers as a rookie. However, the forward has no good memories of his college days at LSU. In particular, Simmons has a clear opinion on the financial conditions surrounding basketball in the NCAA.
“In retrospect, I don’t know what I’ve learned as a person and also in my time at LSU,” he said in an interview with Uninterrupted:”I think I’ve learned a lot more in my year in Philly.
Already in his documentary “One and Done” the 21-year-old had sharply criticized NCAA’s business with college basketball:”The NCAA is really fucked up,”says Simmons:”When they wanted more and more of me, more photoshoots, meetings and other things I had to do after class and training, I was just annoyed. I thought,”What good is that gonna do me?”
Already in the past, NCAA has been repeatedly criticized by players for making millions of dollars with college athletes who are not paid. Since they are formally considered amateurs, NCAA athletes are not allowed to enter into lucrative advertising contracts.
