NFL: Expensive Seahawks victory in the desert

The Seattle Seahawks 6-3 take an enormously important victory from the desert. At the 22:16 against the Arizona Cardinals 4-5 both Open’s had big problems to find into the match. But behind two shaky offensive lines it was once again Russell Wilson who had the better solutions ready.

Without Safety Earl Thomas, the Seahawks went into the game with worries over their secondary like they did against the Redskins last week. But after that, they could be much bigger. And that despite a victory. Richard Sherman apparently injured himself badly on the Achilles tendon during a play in the third quarter.

Before that, both teams had a hard time finding their way into the game. The Seahawks shot their way through a large number of penalty games once again. After 16 in the previous week it was 12 this time again. They are the most punished team in the league and went down four times on the first touchdown drive of the cardinal.

The Cardinals wanted to go a lot over the course, but didn’t find their luck here. Adrian Peterson was symptomatic of his very first carry. This had never happened to him before. 34 Team-Ruhsing-Yards also asked Drew Stanton (24/47,273 YDS, TD) to try it more often himself. Under great pressure, however, he was only able to get passports to the man very irregularly.

On the other hand, the Seahawks also had serious problems. Russell Wilson (22/32,238 YDS, 2TD) found the right solutions in the crucial situations. In the Red Zone, he made it easy with high passes on Jimmy Graham. The scramble in the fourth quarter in front of a wild pass on Doug Baldwin was crazy, but it also distinguishes Wilson. Besides Sherman, Kam Chancellor, Duane Brown and C. J. Prosise leave the game early.

Arizona Cardinals (4-5) – Seattle Seahawks (6-3)16:22 (0:7,7:8,3:0,6:7) BOXSCORE

Russell Wilson (Seattle of Seahawk), about a possible serious Sherman injury:

“He’s one of the best teammates you can imagine. He’s a hard worker you can’t replace. He’s a hall-of-fame-cornerback. It would be very hard.”

With two punts and no self-imposed first down, the Seahawks started the second half. The Cardinals knocked on the door after a Field Goald with only five points behind. After two penalties, a false start and a holding company, the third drive was confronted with a second-and-21 situation. Wilson left the pocket to the left and saw two defenders approaching. He had to back out again and only threw a wild pass towards Baldwin 10 seconds after the snap. He was actually in close coverage, but still found a way to secure the ball, avoid the opponent and run to the end zone for over 54 yards.

The Cardinals wanted to prevent Wilson’s game outside the pocket and attacked with a 4-men rush. In addition, Blitzes should put the Playcaller under pressure again and again. All in all, Seattle’s production was very well managed. Wilson’s simplest lightning solution Graham took place only in the Red Zone.

He always manages to find a way to win such games. The O-Line wobbled once again and Wilson put in 5 sacks and 7 hits. In addition, there were again some offensive penalties. Wilson plays at MVP level because of these prerequisites.

After 37 carries and 159 yards in the previous week, the tank was empty only four days later. An unusual unconcentration at the first carry that was punished with the fumble. Later a safety, where the line collapsed in front of him. And apart from that, All Day only ran for 29 yards at 21 Carries. The longest run was over 9. So he was not the discharge he hoped for.
