The Philadelphia Eagles have reached an agreement with Timmy Jernigan to renew their contract. The defensive tackle signs for another four years and 48 million dollars.
With the new contract, which guarantees Jernigan a total of 26 million dollars, the Eagles will keep their defensive star in the city of brotherly love until the end of the 2021 season. Without the extension, he would have become a Free Agent after 2018.
With this extension, the Eagles will largely keep their D-Line under contract until at least 2020 – as long as Fletcher Cox, Derek Barnett, Vinny Curry and Chris Long are also bound.
“From the day he first entered the building, Tim made the difference – on the field and outside,”the team explained in a statement on Thursday,”He is a tough, physically strong and relentless player who brings energy and enthusiasm every day. Tim has many of the qualities we are looking for as we continue to build this team. We look forward to his future in Philadelphia with great excitement.”
Jernigan was a second-round pick for the Baltimore Ravens in draft 2014 and traded with the Eagles before this season. In nine games, the 25-year-old had 1.5 sacks and eleven tackles, eight of them for loss.
