Alpine Skiing: Vlhova defeats Shiffrin, Dürr wins Olympic ticket

Olympic champion and world champion Mikaela Shiffrin from the USA surprisingly missed her victory at the World Cup slalom in Levi, Finland.

The 22-year-old overall World Cup winner lost her 0.21-second lead over Petra Vlhova from Slovakia in the second run and finished second at 0.10 seconds behind her rival. For Vlhova it was the third World Cup victory.

Third place went to combination world champion Wendy Holdener from Switzerland (+1.35 seconds)

Lena Dürr (Germering/+2.78) finished in a very good sixth place, securing her place at the 2018 Olympic Games in Pyeonchang/South Korea. In order to meet the standard, it is necessary to be ranked among the first eight or two of the top fifteen in the World Cup.

Maren Wiesler (Münstertal/+3,99) dropped in the second run from 13. on the 20th. He dropped back in third place and thus missed a good opportunity to meet at least half of the standard for the Olympics.
