Basketball: After Trump Appeal: Arrested Basketballers Return from China

The three US college basketball players arrested in China return home. LiAngelo Ball, the younger brother of LA-Lakers player Lonzo Ball, and Cody Riley and Jalen Hill flew back to Los Angeles.

This was announced by an official of the College League on Tuesday. US President Donald Trump campaigned last Saturday with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping for the release of the three arrested basketball players.

Ball, Riley and Hill were arrested for shoplifting earlier last week in Hangzhou. They are said to have stolen three pairs of sunglasses. The UCLA team from Los Angeles had played the season opener against Georgia Tech University in Shanghai, the business metropolis.

Shoplifting in China is punishable by imprisonment of possibly several years. The rest of the UCLA team returned to the USA last Saturday.
