Former ski jumping world champion Severin Freund doesn’t think of a career end even after his second rupture of the cruciate ligament “I know that there is still enough potential. I can physically get to the level that I can be competitive again. And technology is not forgotten,”said the 29-year-old at the ARD Forum Sport. On the weekend, the Olympic season begins in Wisla, Poland, when Freund completely misses out.
In his second jump training in July, Freund had ruptured his cruciate ligament again. The team Olympic champion indicated that he may have returned to the jump too soon,”Of course, in hindsight, you could say that you could have waited a long time, it was perhaps too early and not yet stable enough. But it felt good, and it’s an Olympic season where you don’t want to wait until October,”he said.
Freund therefore defended his decision:”It was apparently the right moment at that moment. In retrospect, things went badly,”said the Lower Bavarian. His concentration is now entirely devoted to the comeback, even if he needs time:”The second time is no faster than the first time.
