NFL: Elliott resigns: Barrier remains permanent

Running Back Ezekiel Elliott of the Dallas Cowboys has now surprisingly accepted his suspension due to domestic violence. This means that Elliott will not be available to the team in the next five games.

The league had already banned Elliott for six matches before the season, but Elliott had repeatedly objected to the suspension. While the case moved from court to court, the Running Back was able to play eight of the cowboy’s previous nine games of the season (5-4), with a total of 993 yards of space and nine touchdowns.

After the latest ruling prevented a mission against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 10, he has now decided not to fight against the ban any more. Elliott’s intention to end this affair is in his best interest, as well as in the best interests of his team mates, family and friends,”he says in an official statement from his advisors to NFL Network Reporter Ian Rapoport.

But this is in no way a guilty plea.”Mr. Elliott will use the time and come back even more strongly, both on and off the pitch,” he said, adding that he would not comment on the situation.

In the fight for the playoffs, the cowboys will compete in the next five weeks without Elliott. He is missing against the Eagles, Chargers, Redskins and the Giants and Raiders. So he is expected to return against the Seattle Seahawks on Christmas Eve in Week 16.
