Boxing: Ali-Vertrauter Pacheco dies at the age of 89

Ferdie Pacheco, longtime confidant and physiotherapist of the heavyweight legend Muhammad Ali, died at the age of 89 in Miami/Florida. This was announced by his family.

From 1964 on, Pacheco stood for 13 years in numerous fights as a cutman in Ali’s ring corner. In 1977 the paths parted ways after Ali, contrary to Pacheco’s recommendation, did not want to end his boxing career.
