Handball: Thuringian HC threatens Champions League outfit

The handball players of the Thuringian HC are in danger of losing their first round in the Champions League.

The German runners-up lost his last group match against unbeaten leader Vadar Skopje in Macedonia 21:29 (12:12). This threatens the Thuringian women to fall to the last place in Group C, on which HK Larvik is still standing at the moment.

Should the Norwegian champion score a point in his last group game on Sunday in Hungary at FTC Budapest, the THC would be relegated to the EHF Cup.

Only the three best teams in each of the four groups of four will reach the main round of the royal class with two six-man relay teams.

Without numerous injured or ill regulars – on Thursday captain Kerstin Wohlbold also had to pass due to an infection – the team of coach Herbert Müller held up well for a half time, but then broke in. The best THC thrower was Iveta Luzumova (6 goals).
