MLB: No one accepts Qualifying Offer

The first significant deadline in the MLB-Free-Agency has passed. And all nine recipients of the qualifying offer, which would have guaranteed them 17.4 million dollars each for 2018, rejected the offers.

Eric Hosmer, Mike Moustakas, Lorenzo Cain (all Royals), Jake Arrieta, Wade Davis (both Cubs), Lance Lynn (Cardinals), Alex Cobb (Rays), Greg Holland (Rockies) and Carlos Santana (Indians) all become free agents and can negotiate with any club.

However, unlike in the past, these players do not receive any first round picks in the subsequent draft as compensation for the retiring team. Instead, a complicated key is used to determine lower compensation.

At this point in time, there is no information about which teams are interested in each player, as almost all of them have waited for the expired deadline to get a clearer view of the market.
