Ski Alpin: Training shock for Max Franz

Huge fright for Max Franz during downhill training in Copper Mountain: The Carinthian almost collides with a squirrel while driving.

The rodent suddenly crosses the track as Franz races down the runway at about 100 km/h. With a short course correction, the Carinthian can prevent the collision. It is hard to imagine what would have happened if the ÖSV star had lost control of his skis at this speed.

Just a few days after the fatal training accident of the Frenchman David Poisson, such an incident gives every ski fan goose bumps. Franz took the fright, which was captured by an ÖSV supervisor on video, but with humour “Lucky. The squirrel and I are fine,”the World Cup bronze winner told the Kronen Zeitung.

The ÖSV athletes prepare themselves for the speed kick-off with the training in Colorado. This will take place next weekend in Lake Louise (Canada).
